Ribbon Communications has announced the expansion of its router portfolio with the introduction of two new models in the NPT XDR2000 series: NPT 2714 and NPT 2507. These solutions are designed to increase network flexibility and ensure investment protection for service providers, enterprises, and critical infrastructure operators.
NPT 2714: Innovative Orthogonal Architecture
The NPT 2714 router features a new orthogonal architecture that combines the advantages of modular and fixed systems. It provides the redundancy and input/output diversity typical of modular solutions, along with the simplicity and cost-efficiency of fixed systems. Key features of the NPT 2714 include:
- Pay-As-You-Grow Scalability: Initial switching capacity of 7.2 Tbps can be increased to 14.4 Tbps by adding a 7.2 Tbps switching card without service interruption.
- Security: Support for software-driven MACsec (Media Access Security), eliminating hardware dependency and securing all network interfaces.
- Coherent Routing (IPoDWDM): Integration of IP and DWDM in a single platform with 36 coherent 400G ZR+ interfaces, including amplifier connections for extended reach.
NPT 2507: Compact Traffic Aggregation Solution
The NPT 2507 router is a fixed solution with 7.2 Tbps throughput, ideal for scenarios where compact size and a fixed layout of 100G and 400G interfaces are important. Key highlights of the NPT 2507 include:
- High Capacity: Supports 40 x 100G interfaces and 8 coherent 400G interfaces.
- Cost Efficiency: Optimized for 100G traffic aggregation without unnecessary complexity, aligned with operational needs.
